Watch Dave Grohl Cover His Old Band With Rise Against In Adelaide

Rise Against pulled out something special for Adelaide fans during their support set for Foo Fighters, covering hardcore punk band Scream with the help of one of the band’s former drummers.

Just in case you didn’t know, one of Scream’s former drummers just happens to be Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who joined Rise Against on drums for a raucous rendition of Came Without Warning from Scream’s debut album Still Screaming.

“A long time ago in a land far, far away there was a band called Scream from DC, an amazing fucking band,” Rise Against’s lead-singer Tim McIlrath said before introducing Grohl. “We found somebody on this tour who knows Scream. Make some noise for the drummer of Scream, everybody.”

While Grohl, who was a part of Scream before joining Nirvana, is obviously well-acquainted with the song, McIlrath appeared to make up a few of the lyrics as he goes. It doesn’t seem to matter, as the footage shows it to be a slamming performance.

Rise Against have been churning out a few covers during their support slot with members of the Foos. Of course, there was that epic Misfits cover with Gerard Way, and Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett joined Rise Against onstage during most shows on the tour to cover Jawbreaker’s Kiss The Bottle. You can check out their Sydney performance below too, as well as photos from Brisbane.
