Green Day have posted yet another video update of themselves in the studio, after a tweet a couple of weeks ago from frontman Billie Joe Armstrong announced that the band were recording their ninth studio album.
They’ve been writing new tracks for the new album for a while now, and Billie Joe had been talking of a new album since 2010: “We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam. We wanted to get [the songs] down in some early form.” They also played new material at a secret show in August last year, though it’s not sure if they will appear on the new album or not.
Their last and arguably most popular album 21st Century Breakdown, was released in 2009. Rolling Stone described the new tracks as a departure from their politically-charged previous effort.
