Watch Grinspoon Drop A Surprise CHVRCHES Cover For ‘Like A Version’

Beloved Aussie rockers Grinspoon have performed on triple j‘s Like A Version covers segment for the first time in almost 10 years, covering a recent single by Scottish indie-pop trio CHVRCHES.

After giving listeners a clue by saying their cover had something to do with “The Sunken Place” (a reference to the 2017 film Get Out), Grinners revealed they’d be covering CHVRCHES’ recent single, the appropriately titled ‘Get Out’.

The cover, which came complete with overdriven guitar riffs and that trademark Grinspoon energy, was a bit of a surprise for some fans…

While in the triple j studios, Grinspoon also revived their original song ‘Ready 1’, which appeared on their second album, 1999’s Easy. Watch both performances, below.

Grinspoon made their Like A Version debut in 2005 with a cover of The Verve’s ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’, before returning in 2009 with a version of Prince’s ‘When You Were Mine’. The band also recorded their second EP LickerBottleCozy in the triple j studios, after winning the station’s first triple j Unearthed competition.

Grinspoon are currently touring the country as part of the 2018 Groovin The Moo lineup. They last toured Australia in a headline capacity in 2017, as part of a 20th anniversary tour for their 1997 debut album Guide To Better Living.
