Watch Karen O’s Underwater Video For Lo-Fi Solo Single ‘Rapt’

Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has released an underwater music video for Rapt, a two-minute lo-fi track taken from her debut solo album, Crush Songs, which is set for release on 5th September.

In the dimly-shot clip for Rapt (below), Karen O channels PJ Harvey‘s Down By The Water as she hovers underwater wearing red lipstick and a red dress. The song itself mirrors the video’s murky and waterlogged aesthetic, with O’s gentle vocals sitting atop a lo-fi recording of a very mellow acoustic guitar.

The Rapt video was directed by Karen O’s husband Barney Clay, and its production designed was done by K.K. Barrett, who worked with Karen on her “psycho-opera” Stop the Virgens.

Crush Songs will be released via The StrokesJulian Casablancas‘ record label, Cult. The album will be available digitally, on CD, on single vinyl and as a limited-edition vinyl package including 15 cards of Karen’s personal drawings and handwritten lyrics. Pre-orders are available here.
