Watch Korn Perform ‘Daddy’ Live For First Time In Two Decades

Korn played their self-titled debut studio album from start to finish live over the weekend in Las Vegas which included a rare performance of album closer Daddy. The show at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas marked the first time the band have played the track for 20 years.

Daddy is one of Korn’s most personal trakcs with the song recounting lead-singer Jonathan Davis’ memories of being molested by a family friend as a child.

Speaking to Rolling Stone before the Las Vegas performance, Davis revealed the band would be playing the song. “I’ll be playing ‘Daddy,’ but that song is just so old news to me,” he said.

“It’s not going to affect me like it did back then. There was abuse there, I dealt with it, and the person who abused me is dead now. Karma took them [laughs]. And, y’know, I’ve buried that. I’m just going to play the song for the people that need it, you know what I mean?”

The album version of the track ends with four minutes of Davis sobbing in the recording booth, recorded by producer Ross Robinson without the singer noticing.

Davis told Rolling Stone, “It was just a special moment that I did not know was being recorded, for one, because Ross is a prick and kept the fuckin’ tape running.”

The band performed at the Epicenter Rock Festival in California the night after the Las Vegas gig, playing the album in full once again including Daddy.
