Watch Matt Corby Throw Back To The 90s With A Tina Arena Cover For ‘Like A Version’

ARIA Award-winning Aussie legend Tina Arena may have hit peak fame in the 90s, but she’s experiencing something of a resurgence back into the public eye in 2016, and following the revelation that she’ll feature on Client Liaison’s debut record this year, Matt Corby has covered one of her tracks for Like A Version.

Corby popped into the triple j studios to smash out a sultry cover of Arena’s 1994 track Chains, joined in the studio by a pretty standard set up featuring a drummer, guitar, keys and some backing vocals.

The stripped-back version of Arena’s definitive ’90s power ballad (below) was certainly a different take on the track, but Corby’s typically powerful and emotive vocals undoubtedly did the tune justice.

Corby also performed a live version of his own original track Empires Attraction, from his 2016 debut album Telluric, complete with an outstanding flute solo from Corby himself.

Check out both the original and the cover, below.
