Watch Metallica Perform A Rare, Cover-Loaded Acoustic Set For Charity

Those who can do no (mostly) wrong, Metallica, have dusted off the timber & steel and put together a setlist of originals, rarities and covers to blow the roof of a charity gig (the Bridge School Benefit Concert in California), melting caressing the faces of those in attendance.

For a band that’s been around as long as Metallica, ‘firsts’ are pretty rare, which makes the performance all the more incredible considering it was comprised of tracks new and old. Seminal hits such as Whisky In The Jar, Seek & Destroy, Enter Sandman and new jam Hardwired were all performed acoustically, while the classic Hero Of The Day was performed for the first time since 1999.

Among the originals, the band threw in some fan favourite covers. Deep Purple’s When A Blind Man Cries made the cut, as did Clampdown by The Clash. To wrap things up, the band performed Buffalo Springfield’s Mr. Soul, also for the first time live, joined by Neil Young.

You can check out fan-shot footage from the show below, alongside the setlist.
