We’re not sure who cleared it, but somehow Australia’s version of The Voice was apparently given the green light to cover the generational defining Nirvana song Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Viktoria Bolonina performed the cover on last night’s episode of The Voice. Perhaps the drastically altered version was meant to emulate Tori Amos, who delivered a piano-based cover of the song many years ago.
Whatever the intent, the cover has caused some outraged Nirvana fans to speak out about the performance:
