Watch Phantogram Drop A Gorgeous Radiohead Cover For ‘Like A Version’

American duo Phantogram have covered Radiohead‘s In Rainbows track ‘Weird Fishes/Arpeggi’ for the first Like A Version of 2017 (and first for triple j‘s new Breakfast hosts Ben and Liam).

Phantogram’s Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel covered the song during the early days of Phantogram, and revived it for a Like A Version take which is slightly slower than the original, but still packs the same delicateness thanks to its plucked guitars and Barthel’s vocals.

Speaking of Radiohead’s impact on the duo, Carter told Ben and Liam, “A big part of how they influence us… is that they’re one of those bands that just don’t have a box you can put them in.”

While in the triple j studios, Phantogram as performed their original track ‘Cruel World’ off their latest album, Three. Ben and Liam described the performance as “almost a cover of [their] own song”.

Carter also told triple j that he’s just finished working on a new song with former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, which is due to be released this year.

Phantogram have been in the country for Aussie festivals Southbound, Beyond The Valley and Field Day, and they also played a free show in Sydney earlier this month.
