Watch Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith Crash A Foo Fighters Show

You just never know what’s gonna happen at a Foo Fighters show. Even though Dave Grohl’s been keeping off his toes recently, he’s still been keeping fans on theirs – whether it be playing leg cast guitar solos, doing a rock n’ roll homage to Game Of Thrones, or jamming with members of Pearl Jam & Blind Melon – and this week’s show in New York’s Citi Field was no exception.

The Foos surprised fans by wheeling out “one of their best old friends”, none other than Red Hot Chili Pepper’s drummer Chad Smith (as opposed to that other Chad Smith from the Anchorman movies) to deliver an all-star rendition of Faces’ classic Stay With Me, written by Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood.

“You guys know the Foo Fighters – we don’t do encores, we never do encores,” Grohl joshed (because Foo Fighters like totally do more encores than pretty much any other band going around). “But we got Chad from fucking Chili Peppers!” he continued, calling Smith “the best fucking drummer in rock n’ roll” (soz Taylor) before adding repeatedly, “I love this guy!”

Smith then assumed drum duties for the rockin’ cover, ousting Taylor Hawkins to main vocals. Check out fan-shot footage of the whole shebang, below.
