Soundgarden have released a video for lead single Been Away Too Long, taken from the brand spanking new record King Animal, which came out in Australia yesterday. The clip’s narrative follows a young girl as she attempts to escape what appears to be a very cold and desolate mental institution.
The lady in question sheds her straightjacket and flees for her life from soldiers in gas masks and their fearsome K-9s. Things take a turn for the worst after the escaping patient cuts herself on the horn of an Antelope skull, as depicted on the album cover, but we’ll let you see what happens for yourself.
Frontman Chris Cornell recently ended speculation that Soundgarden and Pearl Jam were headed our way for a co-headlining tour. When asked by Triple M about the possible tour, Cornell joked that the band’s shared drummer Matt Cameron probably doesn’t have the endurance for such an epic undertaking.
“That’s definitely false. If you ever watch Matt play in Soundgarden, I can’t imagine him doing another 2-hour set after that,” Cornell told Triple M.
