In anticipation of their up-and-coming album Summertime Heavy, Perth’s Sugar Army have been hard at work building up the excitement for the release.
Today we have for you the first two of the three Summertime Heavy Webisodes. The short clips contain plenty of ‘in the studio’ footage, lightly peppered with some shots of the lads hard at play, and the off wig-out frame or two.
The short but groovy snippets are soundtracked by bits and pieces of songs. All the excerpts will be featured on the album, which is expected to drop September 7. Already from the album we’ve heard one single: Hooks for Hands, which was handed down to fans earlier in the year as a free download.
This will be the third release from the band and the first time we’ve heard new material from the WA lads since 2009’s The Parallels Amongst Ourselves. That release saw the band absolutely clean up at the Western Australian Music Industry Awards of the same year, scoring them Most Popular Act, Most Popular Music Video Best Rock Act, Best Male Vocalist, and Best Bassist in May 2009. Later in the year, the single Acute was crowned WAM Rock Song of the Year.
So there’s no denying Summertime Heavy has big shoes to fill, though from what samples we’ve been given so far, it looks as though none of us will be let down. Keep those eyes peeled for #3 when it drops and stay tuned for all the juicy album deets.
