Watch: The Stone Roses First Show Back

Last night The Stone Roses played their first show since 1996 at Warrington Parr Hall for 1500 guests, who all got in for free. The band opened with their classic hit I Wanna Be Adored. According to the UK Telegraph, Ian Brown’s unpredictable voice held up throughout the show. Stone Roses biographer John Robb told the NME: “I’ve never seen Ian nervous before…they sounded great. But how could they not with the world’s best drummer?”.

The band announced in October last year that they put aside past differences and were reforming with the original lineup, and 225,000 tickets to the comeback shows at Heaton Park in Manchester sold out in under an hour. When the reunion was announced, Ian Brown said: “The band are determined now to go out and enjoy themselves, give the old fans a great time and pull in a few new ones”.
