Watch This Policeman Get Down At Rainbow Serpent Festival

Although essential, police aren’t usually the most popular people at music festivals. Unless, of course, they’ve got some sick moves to showcase. So here’s this Victorian police officer, who let loose like a champ at Rainbow Serpent Festival over the Australia Day long weekend.

The policeman was filmed by onlookers, joining the excitable crowd and eventually becoming the center of attention as a dance-circle forms around him. His moves include twirling a festival-goer, flipping his hat backwards and waving his arms in the air in euphoria.

It doesn’t really matter what he does as the crowd are impressed to no end. When he’s done, it finishes like all good dance-offs do, with an all-in group hug.

ninemsn spoke to one of the onlookers, Monty McGaw who said, “He was a dead set legend and he was happy to be working at the festival.”

“I talked to him by coincidence hours before just whilst he was on duty and he was having a great day.”

Soon the Victorian Police Force will have enough members to form their own dance troupe. Last year, an officer was filmed cutting loose at Big Day Out in Melbourne last year. An enquiry was launched into that officer’s conduct but it was eventually decided the video had become a positive public relations tool.

This year’s festival saw some bad press earlier this week regarding drug and assault charges. Rainbow punters weren’t impressed with the negative slant, but this bit of fun should help show that it’s not just about the bad times.
