Westfest, the New Zealand hard rock festival, has confirmed it will return in 2015, and will reveal its first lineup next week. The festival has an association with Australia’s Soundwave Festival, the two previously sharing bands across lineups.
Westfest 2015 promises more stages, more bands and a new venue. Westfest 2014 took place over two days, from the 19th to 20th February, though the only confirmed date for Westfest 2015 is Tuesday, 3rd March 2015. Along with the first lineup, ticketing information will be available from next week.
Last year’s bill, which included Eagles Of Death Metal and Black Veil Brides, contained a few acts who would eventually appear on the second lineup announcement for Soundwave 2014, and shared already announced acts like Rob Zombie, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, and Megadeth.
Although no partnership of bands has been confirmed for 2015, Westfest promoter Olly Martin and SW promoter AJ Maddah have apparently been in conversation.
It’s also worth nothing that legendary guitarist Slash, who is confirmed for Soundwave 2015, is set to play two shows in New Zealand in February, while Westfest 2015 is set to take place in March.
