Wilco Announce Bluesfest Sideshows

Of the many impressive names on the lineup for Bluesfest 2013, alternative rock act Wilco is one of the standouts for many festivalgoers. With the band’s eighth studio album, 2011’s The Whole Love, being nominated for Best Rock Album at the 54th Grammy Awards, Wilco appear to still be improving even after being together in different incarnations for almost 20 years.

Permanent fixtures frontman Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt have stayed with Wilco from the band’s inception in 1994. Since that time Tweedy and Stirratt have endured many lineup changes, but the current makeup of Wilco has remained intact since 2004. Within an eight-year period the Chicago six-piece have produced four stellar studio LPs, including the Grammy Award-winning A Ghost Is Born, which took out Best Alternative Music Album, and Wilco (The Album) which was nominated for a Grammy under the category of Best Americana Album.

While in Australia for Bluesfest, Wilco have announced just the one sideshow so far. The headlining gig is set to take place at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on March 27, 2013. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, October 24 and are available from artscentremelbourne.com.au. Although the Melbourne show currently appears to be a one-off gig, be sure to keep an eye out on Music Feeds should more dates arise.
