Willow Smith Says Her “Dream” Is To Make Music With Australia’s Hiatus Kaiyote

Singer Willow Smith (of Whip My Hair and Will Smith’s daughter fame) is very much vibing on Australia’s very own Hiatus Kaiyote.

In a new interview with Interview Mag, the spiritually enlightened teenage spawn of the Fresh Prince has heaped praise on the Melbourne future soul act, saying it would be her “dream” to make music with them.

“One of my dream collaborations is to work with a band called Hiatus Kaiyote, because their music is so beautiful, the changing of the time signatures,” the 15-year-old explains.

“Nai Palm, the vocalist, I have such an affinity for her voice. And everything that she talks about in her music and everything that she stands for is just so beautiful. And… [it wouldn’t just be about] making music all the time, but just seeing how they live their lives and observing them as a spirit and as a human, it’s so beautiful.”

And just for the record, Smith used the term “beautiful” to describe the Grammy-nominated Aussies three times more than she used it to describe actor Michael Cera with whom she collaborated earlier this year, and if that’s not a measurement of her appreciation for Hiatus Kaiyote’s art then we don’t know what is.

The band have yet to respond to Smith’s comments, but if a collaboration between the two does end up happening, we’re sure that it will be very pleasing to the senses or mind, aesthetically, indeed.
