Established by English musician Peter Gabriel in 1982, WOMAD stands for ‘World of Music, Arts & Dance’. WOMADelaide, the music festival, came a decade later in 1992 and since that time has been providing SA with perhaps the most diverse music festival in Australia.
As the tradition continues WOMADelaide has announced their lineup for 2013. Joining previously announced headliners Cat Empire, The Herd, Jimmy Cliff (pictured above) and Hugh Masekela will be a bevy of diverse musical acts plucked from all corners of the world.
Along with popular local acts such as Mia Dyson and Tim Rodgers and The Bamboos will be UK’s Herbaliser DJs, Japanesse duo Shunsuke Kimura & Etsuro Ono and Salif Keita, who ABC note as being hailed as the golden voice of Africa.
WOMADelaide takes place over four days from March 8-11 at Adelaide’s Botanic Park. Check out the full festival lineup below.
