Woods To Release New Album ‘Sun & Shade’

It doesn’t rain announcements of interesting new psych-folk albums, it thoroughly pours. Days after Vetiver announced the release of their upcoming album The Errant Charm, over on the East Coast Brooklyn’s Woods are ready to follow up last year’s At Echo Lake with their sixth LP, entitled Sun & Shade.

Pitchfork reports that the new album will get a US release on June 14 via the band’s own label, Woodsist. They recorded the album in upstate New York with a helping hand from Glenn Donaldson of Skygreen Leopards and Art Museum.

Woods are touring Europe throughout March and are booked in for the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago in July. It goes without saying that this most wonderful of groups must come to Australia soon.

At Echo Lake was one of the stand-out records of 2010, and marked Jeremy Earl as a leading practitioner in modern psychedelia. They remain a very special act to see live, so we repeat: come to Australia, Woods.
