Yacht Australian Tour December 2009

Written by Daniel Clarke on September 24, 2009

Fresh off the release of their acclaimed new album, See Mystery Lights, (DFA) we are excited to let you know that YACHT will return to Australian this December. Just announced for the Meredith Music Festival, the avant-pop duo will also bring their anthemic power jams to shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for your dancing pleasure.

After releasing three albums of original music, touring worldwide and countless remixes, Jona Bechtolt, has taken his “life project” to new level. Last year YACHT (Young Americans Challenging High Technology) reincarnated as a duo, with Bechtolt joined by new full-time member Claire L. Evans. After they recorded a tongue-in-cheek “love letter” to LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy in the form of the track Summer Song, Murphy signed the pair to DFA Records.

See Mystery Lights is an idiosyncratic record, loaded with hedonistic dance explosives designed to take aim at your shoulders. Watch them shake! Adventurous and mega pop, the album has well and truly elevated YACHT to the next level – spiritually and otherwise.

Over the past 2 years YACHT played more than 200 shows in 17 countries around the world touring with such luminaries as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend and Architecture in Helsinki. Don’t miss your very own live YACHT experience this summer. Expect power point presentations, the destruction of the 4th wall, and of course YACHT’s signature dance moves.
