Yothu Yindi Singer Rushed To Hospital

In a series of unfortunate events, one of the Aboriginal community’s most respected individuals, Mandawuy Yunupingu, has been rushed to hospital. Yunupingu, known as the lead singer of iconic Australian group Yothu Yindi, was previously Australian of the Year and was inducted into the ARIA hall of fame last week, alongside the remainder of Yothu Yindi.

The singer was flown straight to hospital after he collapsed whilst at home in Arnhem Land. Friend of the band Alan James assured the public that the “doctor has told him the singer is responding to treatment and should be able to leave hospital in the next four to five days”, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It was only last week that the band performed their iconic single Treaty live at the ARIA awards ceremony in Sydney, recognising their induction to the establishment’s Hall of Fame.
