You Me At Six Stop UK Festival Show To Help Injured Fan

Written by Tom Williams on May 26, 2015

English rockers You Me At Six have proved once again just how gentlemanly they can be when a fan is in trouble. During their performance at the UK’s Slam Dunk South Festival on Sunday, 24th May, the band stopped their set so paramedics could attend to an injured punter.

Five songs into their set, You Me At Six paused their show for almost 30 minutes. Since the performance, the group’s frontman, Josh Franceschi, has taken to Instagram to thank fans for their patience, and to explain just what happened. Here’s what he had to say in a caption to a photo (below) taken at Slam Dunk South:

To everyone who was at Slam Dunk South yesterday…

A) Thank you for coming out to watch us we had a great time.

B) Thank you for your patience as that young lady was being seen to by paramedics.

C) We have never had to leave the stage for 30 minutes, but the safety of people who come to watch our band, as well as your enjoyment level, is paramount to us. Was it somewhat frustrating? Yes. But our egos are far less significant and the show continued as planned after that.

D) Thank you to the fans in that area of the crowd for alerting me to the situation, to the security and paramedics for acting swiftly, and to Slam Dunk for letting us run over so we could complete our set.

E) Glad to say the young lady has completely recovered.

Slam Dunk Festival organisers have confirmed via Twitter (below) that You Me At Six’s set was interrupted “to remove an injured fan from the crowd. Unavoidable, safety first.”

A Twitter user has also tweeted at Franceschi, saying, “I was the one that ruined your set last night, I’m sorry – thank you for caring though.” Franceschi responded to this, saying, “If you genuinely were the young lady, then let me tell you categorically you did not ruin our set. I’m relieved to hear you’re ok.”

You Me At Six were recently in Australia, touring as part of Groovin The Moo 2015. In an eerily similar incident to the Slam Dunk South medical emergency, the band stopped their Sydney show to help out a fallen fan.

Needless to say, the group take their fans’ safety very, very seriously.
