ARIA Awards 2014 Red Carpet: The Bamboos

At this year’s ARIA Awards, many-membered Melbourne band The Bamboos were up for Best Blues And Roots Album for their most recent release, Fever In The Road.

Ahead of the award ceremony, New Zealand-born producer/guitarist/songwriter Lance Ferguson spoke to Music Feeds about how it felt to arrive on the red carpet surrounded by One Direction fans.

“This whole One Direction thing is crazy. It’s like actually ‘Beatle Mania’. It’s full on,” Ferguson said, before suggesting that only “a few tumbleweeds” many any kind of noise upon his arrival to all the pre-ceremony shenanigans.

Ferguson also mused over where his band’s music fits in the blues and roots genre, saying, “It’s sort of weird for us because I think our music kind of falls in the cracks. It’s not really urban, which is obviously dominated by hip hop, and then blues and roots you’re gonna get folk artists.”

The Bamboos will play Twilight At Taronga and Riverboats Music Festival in 2015.
