Interview: Arrested Development – The Secret Is Passion

Celebrating their 20th anniversary of making sweet, sweet positive hip hop, Arrested Development announced a string of headlining shows around Australia. While in Sydney, main man Speech caught up with Music Feeds for a quick chat.

Kicking things off with a run-down on the band’s thoughts of Australia, Speech confirms what we’d all suspected…Arrested Development love Australia. Making their way down for the first time back in 1993, the group was most recently here in 2007 and has made a habit of including Australia in other tours and releases.

Speech gives his thoughts on the group reaching the big two-zero, and says that he hopes passion is the real secret behind surviving in music. Passion is a box Arrested Development can certainly check. Regularly releasing albums over the years, the band dropped their latest release Standing at the Crossroads earlier in the year. Handed out for free to fans online, ‘Very free, very fresh”, Speech explains what went into this album, and why they’ve chosen to address the pressing issue of respect for women.
