Charles Murdoch – ‘Straws’

Brisbane tunesmith Charles Murdoch has returned from a 2-year hiatus with a brand new single, dubbed Straws.

The flagship track from his forthcoming debut LP also comes packing one hell of a music video, which acts as the first in a three-part short film series by young German creative collective, Jünglinge.

Shot in Germany, and tackling themes of suppressed sexuality and contradictory identities, the accompanying clip for Staws follows Pete, a skinhead whose daily life is “decisively affected by his membership of an aggressive, right-winged group and his urge to play out suppressed desires of love”.

The ebbs and flows of the indie-electro artist’s latest jam poignantly mirrors the psychological conflict that takes place in the mind of the film’s protagonist.

Fresh from a performance at this year’s VIVID Live Festival, Charles Murdoch will release Straws on Friday, 19th June via Future Classic.
