Dewayne Everettsmith – ‘It’s Like Love’ (Acoustic)

Music Feeds recently got together with singer-songwriter Dewayne Everettsmith, whom most know from the song he wrote for Tourism Australia’s $250 million international advertising campaign, It’s Like Love, which took him from a day job as an Aboriginal health worker to the life of a touring musician. Following an interview, during which we discussed his new album, Surrender, Dewayne graced us with a solo acoustic rendition of the song that changed his life.

“I was very emotionally turmoiled. I was going through a lot of heartache and hurt, I was very angry as well, dealing with all the issues that I had to deal with,” Dewayne told us of the songs on Surrender. “These songs were great outlets to communicate that in a very diplomatic way. Writing these songs, I wasn’t in a great headspace, but that’s what makes them even more personal and special.”

Dewayne also got us caught up on his recent string of live performances, saying, “It’s been really good. We’ve had some really nice intimate crowds and intimate shows, people have responded well in the audience. I’ve had some really great feedback from fans and industry and media, all around Australia. So it’s been fantastic.”
