Interview: Andy Bull Talks “Difficult” Second Album ‘Sea Of Approval’

Sydney singer-songwriter Andy Bull recently sat down with Music Feeds to chat about his forthcoming second album Sea Of Approval, which is set for release this Friday, 11th July.

When asked if his newest release fits the “difficult second album” archetype, Bull responded, “It was difficult to do, but it didn’t feel like it was way off course or anything. It was just hard, that’s all.” Bull also speaks about the “tonnes of ideas” he had for material as he created Sea Of Approval, and noted that he could of actually created “a couple of different versions” of the album thanks to his newly acquired recording process.

“Along the way you accrue ideas and things become half-songs. And they way I was doing this record was recording and producing while writing them,” Bull says. “I guess the more traditional songwriter way to do it is to write the songs, then you might rehearse them, then you’ll track them, and then you’ll do overdubs.”

Andy Bull will tour Australia this September, backed by the soon-to-be-released Sea Of Approval. He is also set to perform at Brisbane Festival in the same month.
