Interview: Cancer Bats – Soundwave 2013
While stopping off in Sydney on their whirlwind tour of Australia with Soundwave 2013, Mike and Liam of Cancer Bats caught up with the Music Feeds crew to get the latest goss.
Maybe people are still talking about their last run of shows here back in 2010, and it seems that both their festival performances and Sidewaves have been just as awesome this time round. As the band explains, they’re certainly in a different headspace in 2013 than in previous years, but nonetheless stoked to be here.
From there, the boys give us some insight into the thought process behind their latest album Dead Set On Living. The record is totally streamlined, lean and raw, bringing the ‘partycore’ vibes from the stage into the studio in an attempt to recreate their live, honest feel on the album, and they did a pretty good job at doing it.
Covers have been a fairly consistent thing from Cancer Bats. Their rendition of The Beastie Boys’ Sabotage is the stuff of legend, and under the moniker Bat Sabbath, released an EP of Black Sabbath covers. They fill us in on some future projects we might see from the band.
