Interview: Daniel Johns On Discovering The Concept Of His New Album And How Lorde Inspired His Sound

Barreling through 2015 with a debut solo EP, quickly followed by a full-length album, former Silverchair frontman and Australian music royalty Daniel Johns found some time to chat to Music Feeds about this exciting new stage in his career.

Chatting to Music Feeds’ Harry, Johns delved into the initial impulses behind his new music and how overtime he discovered the overall concept was hidden amongst the deeper meanings of the new tracks.

“Later on in the piece I started to see those lyrical threads and realising it’s, kind of, about a lot of stuff I didn’t necessarily have the balls or the capacity to speak about with anyone and it sort of leaked out in the music.”

Talking about working with the currently highly sought after producer Joel Little, Johns revealed he knew the pairing was going to be something special after hearing an advance copy of Lorde’s debut album Pure Heroine telling us “I got in at a really good time I guess, a little while later he would have been out of my budget!”.

Daniel Johns new album Talk is out Friday 22nd May and he will be performing as apart of this year’s Vivid LIVE festival.
