Interview: Hilltop Hoods – “We Wanted To Make A Progressive Record”

Hilltop Hoods kicked off their return to home soil with an appearance at Splendour In The Grass not long ago, and with their forthcoming album, Walking Under Stars, set to be released this Friday, 8th August, the boys are eager to show what they’ve come up with in the interim between their extensive international touring in the wake of 2012’s Drinking from the Sun and now.

“We wanted to make a progressive record,” MC Suffa told Music Feeds‘ own Mike Hohnen when we recently caught up with the crew, ahead of their Splendour performance. “We always have a saying that the records make themselves, so the tracks come along and as you’re joining tracks to other tracks it starts to make itself.”

“It’s the companion piece to Drinking From The Sun as well, so we wanted a bit of continuity between the two,” he continues. “So when you hear the rest of the album, I think it’ll pull together.” Having officially given us a taste of the forthcoming album with the single Won’t Let You Down, featuring Maverick Sabre, the boys let us in on the narrative that runs through both records and even hint at another part to their ambitious plan that will “manifest itself” next year.

Plus, good news for fans, Hilltop Hoods say they’ll be heading out on an Australian album launch tour this October and November. Stay tuned to Music Feeds for the tour details when they drop. In the meantime, Walking Under Stars is due out this Friday, 8th August.
