Interview: Horrorshow at Groovin the Moo 2011
Currently working on the follow up to 2009’s Inside Story, since the release of their debut The Grey Space back in 2008 Horrorshow have proven themselves to be one of the most successful Australian hip hop acts to emerge from the scene in the later half of the last decade.
Signed to influential label Elefant Traks, home of The Herd, Hermitude and Urthboy amongst others when they were fresh out of school, the duo made up of producer DJ Adit and MC Solo are part of the new wave of Australian hip hop artists alongside contemporaries such as Spit Syndicate and Thundamentals.
Melding soulful beats and production with personal and confessional lyricism, their music manages to side-step all the bullshit braggadocio and posturing rife in hip hop, replacing it with a sense of honesty and conviction. Touring with Groovin The Moo recently we caught up with the long-time Music Feeds favourites in Maitland to chat about them going back to uni part-time, working in their own studio space and how work on the third album is shaping up.
