Interview: Lewis Watson – “I Wanted To Show An Evolution, Not A Change”

English musician Lewis Watson took a break from supporting Birdy, on her recent Australian tour, to catch up with Music Feeds. For Watson, the transition from busker to sought-after act can be measured in steps, or more specifically the steps of the Sydney Opera House.

Having once busked outside the Sydney landmark, offering tunes for change, Australian fans are now more than willing to offer up more than a few coins to see the modern folk singer perform inside the building’s hallowed halls. In fact, such is the allure of Waston that Australian fans began petitions to bring him back ‘Down Under’.

Watson’s latest EP The Wild is his third and displays the the continual evolution of the singer/songwriter. With his debut album lurking somewhere on the horizon of late 2013/early 2014, it seems the skies the limit for the rapidly rising Watson.
