Interview: Lido On Making His Live Debut
Peder Losnegård is currently in the country to play a bunch of shows including independent dance label Future Classic and BBE’s Xmas Weekender Christmas parties under his most recent moniker Lido, and the Norwegian-born producer says he’s both excited and a little nervous to premiere his new live material on Australian soil.
“I’ve been doing music for a long time but this is the first time I’ve been doing the Lido project live, ever,” explains Lido. Having been introduced to world of music at age two when he was gifted a drum kit, the young producer has worked on many projects in the hip hop and pop world over the years, even once opening for Beyoncé, but made his way into the public consciousness as Lido via a remix of Disclosure’s Latch.
He is somewhat of a prolific remixer actually, releasing re-works of tracks by ZHU, Banks and recently Flight Facilities. “Every time I remix something it’s to help the melody and whatever the melody need,” he explains. “I’m just trying to help it. I’m trying to see where the potential is and see where I would take it if I had the idea in the first place.”
Lido says he has lofty plans for his upcoming live sets in Australia and aims to focus in on his “musicianship”. “I’d never be comfortable locking myself into a set-up where I have to press the right buttons. Every show I’m going to play is going to be so different from the previous one.”
