Interview: Lurch & Chief Discuss “Very Different” New EP ‘Breathe’

Lurch & Chief members Hayden Somerville and Lilibeth Hall recently sat down with Music Feeds to talk through the Melbourne band’s upcoming EP and national headline tour.

Now more than a year since their last EP, Wiped Out, Lurch & Chief say they took a “very different” approach to recording their forthcoming EP, Breathe.

“We kind of wrote all the tracks on Wiped Out in a stilted way, over time. But all of our Breathe EP was written pretty much in two weeks,” said Hall.

“It’s the first time we all went away and got out of Melbourne, where we live. We went up to The Grampians and just stayed together in a little shack up there where we could make as much noise as we wanted,” added Somerville.

Lurch & Chief’s Breathe EP will be released on 27th March, and includes recent single Fading Out, which was premiered on Music Feeds. The band will embark on a 15-date Australian tour in May/June.
