Interview: Sky Ferreira – “I Had The Pressure Of Releasing A Sophomore Album For My Debut”

Indie pop teen angst it girl Sky Ferreira is in the country for a whirlwind promo visit, and before her one and only show at Oxford Art Factory last night she graciously took the time to chat with us about her solid debut LP, Night Time, My Time, as well as what 2014 holds in store.

Suffering from some seriously debilitating jet lag, the singer told us she’s still reeling from the reception she’s received Down Under. She says she still finds it amazing that she’s so popular on the other side of the world, especially when you can fly over for just one show, and also confirmed that she’ll be returning “somewhere in July”.

Speaking on the stresses she felt making Night Time, My Time, she says “it was like releasing a sophomore album” but that she thrives under that pressure. We also got a little hint about what Ferreira might be planning for her next release, which may not be an album. “I’m trying different directions, working with different people you might not expect,” she says.
