Interview: The Jezabels – “Groovin The Moo Is Genius”

Music Feeds was recently lucky enough to have the awesome Jezabels come into Music Feeds Studio to lay down some of their fantastic new tunes, ahead of their appearances at the Sydney Opera House and Groovin The Moo. After their performance for Music Feeds readers, we sat down with the band to talk about all the activity in the Jezabels camp, starting with GTM.

“That festival’s genius,” says frontwoman Hayley Mary. “And regional crowds are always some of our favourites.” Guitarist Samuel Lockwood concurs. “People are just stoked that you’re there. There’s a lot of universities around these places,” he says. “People are just stoked that you’re out there, that’s the general vibe. It doesn’t matter what sort of band you are, everyone’s there and loves music so it’s really cool.”

“It’s such a fun lineup as well,” continues Hayley, “because it’s not trying to be any particular kind of festival, it’s just entertaining.” We also asked the band if they tried carrying the regional thing over to their international jaunts. “We’ve done a lot of it Canada, a bit in America and Germany,” says Hayley. “It’s part of the job,” adds Samuel, “you’re kind of like a traveling salesman, in a way.”
