Interview: Twenty One Pilots Talk Writing On The Road & The ‘Characters’ Of The New Album

Ohio alt pop duo twenty one pilots were recently in the country for a series of headline shows in Australia and New Zealand, as part of their Blurryface World Tour and we got the chance to have a chat!

Talking to Music Feeds’ Harry, Josh and Tyler shared a red bull and gabbed on all things about their new album Blurryface which has received “universal” acclaim, telling us that it “was written on the road so it didn’t feel very universal at the time. It was in the back of the bus or the hotel room and small little areas where songs were being written and concepts put together.”

The pair also opened up on the many “characters” that populate the album with Tyler admitting it “felt like there were primarily three different songwriters as far as the characters I’m tapping in to. Like one of them is talking about like, student loans or the struggle with trying to figure out how you fit into the world around you.”
