I Know Leopard – ‘Rather Be Lonely’
Sydney-based indie-electro-poppers I Know Leopard have a had a great year. They recently signed to Ivy League Records, and now they’ve put out a bizarre video for their latest single Rather Be Lonely, and it’s the best kind of bizarre there is.
The clip for Rather Be Lonely delves into the deep, dark corners of the topic at hand — that is, loneliness. The scene is set with a young woman sitting in a cabin eating alone in a dark room lit only by candle light, and dressed in a duffle coat and cap. She sets of into the woods with a bucket and a fishing rod, but doesn’t get far before stumbling upon a man’s body by the side of the river.
After dragging him back to her cabin, washing him, brushing his locks, shaving his beard and forcing his limp lips into the shape of a smile, she shares a romantic evening with him. Dinner, music, a fancy gown. Maybe she doesn’t have to be alone anymore.
But, it doesn’t take long for her to figure out that this random dead guy just ain’t gonna fill that void, and that she would rather be lonely, after all.
