LA-based trio LANY make synth-washed, R’n’B-tinged electro-pop and they’re already making waves with it. Now they’ve unveiled the video for their breakout track ‘ILYSB’ (I love you so bad), deciding to eschew expectations and pair the chilled track with some dark and twisted visuals.

What starts as the tried and tested narrative of a few mates on a coastal road trip, soon descends into a dark tale of obsession, chaos and violence. Explains songwriter and lead vocalist Paul Klein:

“It would have been the least creative, most predictable thing in the world to run thru a field and fly down the PCH in a convertible with the ‘love of my life,’ hand-in- hand, wind-in-hair. I had an opportunity to flip the script, to beautifully blindside the fan and the critic. I turned ‘ILYSB’ into a tragedy of unhealthy obsession and unrequited love that ultimately led to psychotic behaviour and total derailment.”

As luck would have it, LANY will be in Australia soon performing co-headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne with London five-piece Pumarosa. Dates and details here.
