Ripley – ‘Harper’s Song’

Joe Braithwaite of Aussie band Lowrider is going solo under the moniker of Ripley, releasing his debut EP Bigger Than Me.

The emotional Harper’s Song has been taken from that EP and it’s an ode to Braithwaite’s newborn daughter.

“It’s a message for my daughter to have for the rest of her life,” he said of the track.

“You will stumble and fall; trust yourself, have fun, never lose heart.”

The video is equally as gentle and soft as the track itself with an elongated ballerina commanding all the attention. The camera sweeps around the dancer as the song continues to swell and grow.

Harper’s Song is world’s away from the sound of Lowrider with the new sound helped-along by producer Pip Norman from TZU. The EP at large reflects on the death of Braithwaite’s brother and celebrates the birth of his only daughter – all of which happened in the past 12 months.
