Stone Sour (Corey Taylor) – ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt 2’ – ‘Black John’

Interview by Marc Zanotti

Black John sees the reintroduction of Part 1 character Allen as the protagonist considering giving into temptation. With this track Corey Taylor explores a universal internal conflict of humankind where doing wrong is often the more convenient short-term solution.

The song opens with approximately 30 seconds of old recordings cut together, to disorienting effect. As Taylor reveals, he spliced together a collection of “ridiculous” gospel records in order to represent the main character’s take on his surroundings after regaining consciousness.

Corey Taylor came into Music Feeds Studio to break down Stone Sour’s House of Gold & Bones – Part 2 track by track. Feeds will be releasing the interviews all week long, giving fans an insight into the complex narrative and thought process behind House of Gold & Bones.
