Unknown Mortal Orchestra – ‘Can’t Keep Checking My Phone’

Frontal Lobe Therapy, Meteorite Sickness, Divine Intervention, you can expect all this and more from Dmitri Basil and Cooper Roussel’s wild new clip for Unknown Mortal Orchestra‘s latest single, Can’t Keep Checking My Phone.

The clip’s absurd pile up of surreal scenes matches strangely well with the loved up tropical disco jam, at times feeling like an unhinged word association test between the Basil’s visions and the tracks lyrics…

Speaking of the video’s acerbic style, Basil says,

“‘Can’t Keep Checking My Phone’ is so full of sounds and its lyrics are so elusive so I decided that one idea wouldn’t do the track justice. My approach was to present the multiple ideas as if they were a trading card deck. Trading cards, like Mars Attacks, have a short description accompanied by illustrations. In this case the deck is about strange occurrences, syndromes or phenomena.”

The band themselves recently “crushed” the track live on Conan as part of a run of international tour dates, continuing the barnstorming success of their album Multi-Love, out now on Pod through Inertia.

Set to return to Australia soon for Meredith Music Festival and Fairgrounds Festival, the band have also announced a run of side shows that will be visiting the east coast capital cities and Perth in early December.
