Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013 Interviews: Buried In Verona

Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013 has brought one of the world’s most beloved punk and ska festivals back to our shores and while hanging around Barangaroo during the Sydney leg, we caught up with Brett Anderson and Richie Newman from Sydney metalcore outfit Buried In Verona.

We chat to the boys about how well their most recent single, Splintered, exemplifies their upcoming fourth studio album, set for release in 2014. “I guess it’s a heavy indication of the album. We were gonna put a catchier one out first but we thought ‘Fuck it, just go heavy’,” said Richie.

According to the boys, the group commanded more freedom on the as-yet untitled follow-up to 2012’s Notorious, with Brett telling us, “We’re not pigeon-holing ourselves this time. Whatever we wanted to do, we recorded,” and Richie adding that the band went back to “what we loved.”
