Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013 Interviews: Reel Big Fish

Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013 has been steamrolling through our fair land and during its triumphant return to Sydney at Barangaroo, Music Feeds managed to steal some time from frontman Aaron Barrett and drummer Ryland Steen from third-wave ska stalwarts Reel Big Fish.

After a short exchange regarding “boobies,” apropos of the signing of male ones, the boys explained the cross-national appeal of the band. “It’s ’cause we’re awesome, that’s why!” declared Barrett, before Steen added that they are “the glue that bring Australia, America and England all together.”

The band put out their latest LP, Candy Coated Fury, last year, but say that due to their non-stop touring, records aren’t produced according to a schedule: “Because we’re always touring, there’s never that six-month period in which we’re like, ‘Alright, we’re gonna write a record!'”
