Voyager – ‘Ascension’
Perth-bred prog force Voyager have unleashed a thunderous new addition to their burgeoning anthology with new opus ‘Ascension’.
Sliced off their forthcoming 6th studio album Ghost Mile, the track has already been getting plenty of love across triple J and rock radio and comes packing a visually striking yet slickly minimalist video directed by Adrian Goleby (have a gander above).
The song itself is a triumphant blend of all the hallmarks of the band’s expertly-honed sound — pop and prog sensibilities, atmospheric instrumentals and humungous soundscapes — and drummer Ashley Doodkorte reckons we can expect more of the same from their new record.
“The tracks on Ghost Mile embrace some of the more idiosyncratic aspects of our playing and songwriting – all of us are pushing our instrumentation to places they haven’t visited as much in the past, while still maintaining the hallmarks of our sound – and the results continually surprise and delight us!” He says. “Like never before, this new album really feels like the sum of all of our influences, ideas and personalities.”
Ghost Mile is slated to arrive on Friday, 12th May and Voyager have launched a Pledge Music campaign for fans to pre-order the disc, which you can check out here.
Meanwhile, you can catch Voyager live on their Ghost Mile tour with French Djent/Prog/Dubstep maestros The Algorithm this May, stopping by Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide.
