WATCH: Big Boi ft Phantogram – ‘Objectum Shalamar’

Southern hip-hop pioneer Big Boi, best known for his legendary partnership with Andre 3000, Outkast, has unveiled the latest instalment of his new remix series, #MashUpMondays, with this week’s track seeing the ATLien dole out a funktastic disco makeover to the track Objectum Sexuality from his 2012 LP, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, to make Objectum Shalamar.

The mashup features Big Boi’s rhymes and Phantogram‘s feathery vocal combined with the instrumental from disco band Shalamar‘s 1982 track A Night to Remember. Big Boi has never been a stranger to stanky bass lines and treble-soaked guitar, making Objectum Shalamar a perfect fit for Sir Lucious Left Foot.

The rapper’s previous remixes include the Sade-sampling CPU 2.0 and GossipZilla, which features a sample of classic hard rock outfit Blue Oyster Cult. Fans can keep up with all of the #MashUpMondays action over at Big Boi’s SoundCloud page.

Outkast is set to embark on a 40-date festival tour later this year, but as Big Boi recently revealed, no album is forthcoming.
