WATCH: Dave Rennick – ‘Boys’
Having spent a decade at the helm of one of Australia’s most beloved art-pop outfits, Dappled Cities, Dave Rennick will go it alone for the first time with a “cheeky slice of Francophile inspired electro pop,” which he’s titled Boys, the strobe-filled video for which fans can check out now, ahead of its official digital release this Friday, 28th March.
Rennick has spent the last 10 years sharing stages with the illustrious likes of Modest Mouse, Silverchair, and many others. His music has been remixed by LCD Soundsystem and Wolfmother, and he’s even starred in a twenty-six part Disney television series. All this while fronting Dappled Cities, oh, and he’s a graphic designer and video director too.
Now, Rennick will take the next step in his career by unveiling his first entirely solo music project. “Every musical trip I’ve had over the last 15 years has lead me to this point of no return… and of no rules. That’s an exciting thought. When I get excited, I get freaky,” he says. Entirely self-written and self-produced, Boys is the first chapter in a new creative life for Rennick.
