WATCH: Gang Of Youths – ‘Riverlands’

Riverlands sounds like a supergroup composed of members from The National and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds channeling Leonard Cohen circa Songs of Love and Hate, thus it was perfect to introduce the world to the dulcet sounds of Sydney outfit Gang of Youths. The song was the band’s first demo and helped them get recognition from outlets like FBi Radio and Triple J, and it now has its own music video––the band’s first.

The cryptic yet emotive black and white video, which accompanies a polished, rerecorded version of the the track, follows the band’s highly successful outing at SXSW in Austin, where they’re enjoying being part of a strong Aussie contingent that also includes Jagwar Ma, Boy & Bear, and Kirin J Callinan.

They’ll be hurrying home soon to follow-up support slots for the illustrious likes of Vampire Weekend and Frightened Rabbit by opening for The Jezabels on their upcoming tour this April, as they support their sophomore effort, The Brink.
