Watch: Spit Syndicate – ‘Real’

Spit Syndicate have released the music video for their brand spanker single Real. Produced by fellow One Day crew member Adit, from Horrorshow, the clip sees SS stage a break-in for what looks like an attempted kidnapping…but all is not as it first appears.

Spliced in-between the narrative is duo Nick Lupi and Jimmy Nice delivering Real with the conviction we’ve come to expect from the Sydney hip hop outfit. For funsys, see how many members of the One Day crew, who are lurking in the background, you can name.

As the track suggests it’s all about keeping it real, with SS taking aim at Australian Idol and talent contest shows of a similar ilk. “All we’re trying to be is true to who we are and what we stand for,” says Nick Lupi.

“Whether it’s shit going on in your immediate world, what we see on the news, the music people consume, it’s much easier to bury one’s head in the sand and engage with the safer, constructed versions of reality.”

Real is the first taste of Spit Syndicate new album, due out next year. Real is currently available on iTunes, while SS will play two single launch shows in Sydney and Melbourne, in November, before playing a handful of shows around the country. Tour details here.
