Mammals have unveiled their stunning video for new single Circles. The track is the first cut taken from Mammals’ forthcoming EP, Animalia, slated for release 15th August. The band will celebrate the new release with a string of tour dates kicking off this August at The Vanguard in Newtown.
Mammals, the product of Sydney-based creative mind Guy Brown, made the beautifully shot Circles video in collaboration with the creative team at Heckler, a Sydney-based animation and video effects company, whose past clients include Melbourne rapper Illy, QANTAS, Toyota, and Cadbury.
“Guy Brown has a connection to the ocean and you can hear it in his sound. When I was Guy’s age, I used to use the ocean as an escape from all the demons I had in my life,” explains the director behind the Circles clip, Justin McMillan. “I guess that was my inspiration behind the visual story.”
The fluid tones of Circles intertwine layered vocals with twitchy percussion and some delicate guitar work, combining elements of folk, electronica, and indie rock into one tight little package. The video mirrors the song’s ebb and flow, opening in a foggy mist before moving into scenes of vivid clarity.
Readers can get Circles now through iTunes and catch Mammals live this August and September, with what are sure to be memorable performances scheduled for Newtown’s The Vanguard, Goodgod Small Club in Sydney, and the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay – check all details below.
